Cadet Awards: Military Day 2024

April 22nd, 2024

In recognition for outstanding achievement and performance of duty, the Interim President of Southern Preparatory Academy, Mr. Mark Morgan, approves the presentation of the following awards to the following cadets:

Association of Military Colleges & Schools (AMCSUS) Medal: Cadet Major Steven Hauer, from Owens Cross Roads, AL.

The AMCSUS Medal is given to the cadet who exemplifies the finest traditions of the school and best represents the results of its mission.

Sons of the American Revolution: Cadet Captain Ian Sanford from Gulfport, MS.
This award is given in recognition of outstanding leadership qualities and military bearing and excellence.

Military Officer’s Association of America (MOAA): Cadet Major Sean Turner from Niceville, FL
The MOAA Medal is awarded to the cadet who demonstrated outstanding achievement in military subjects and has displayed capability and diligence in JROTC activities.

General Douglas MacArthur Award: Cadet Major Sean Turner from Niceville, FL
This award is presented to the cadet who demonstrates the ideals for which General MacArthur stood – “Duty, Honor, Country” – those three hollowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, and what you will be. They are your rallying point to build courage when courage seems to fail, to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith, and to create hope when hope becomes forlorn. The award promotes and sustains effective junior officer leadership.

Superior Cadet Award:
LET I Cadet Reilly Mitchell
LET II Cadet Nathan Johnson
LET III Cadet Steven Hauer
LET IV Cadet Ian Sanford

The Superior Cadet Award is presented to a cadet who is active in extracurricular activities separate from JROTC activities, in the top 10% of his LET classes, and in the top 50% of his academic classes.
