Giving to Southern Preparatory Academy, a 501(c)(3) organization, plays a crucial role in supporting our long-term growth and sustainability. Contributions to funds enable us to attract and retain exceptional faculty and talented students, ensuring that we can offer an invaluable educational experience. These gifts help us maintain and enhance our facilities, provide scholarships, and create a challenging and inspiring environment that fosters academic excellence. With various funds and an endowment available, supporters have the opportunity to make a lasting impact, helping Southern Prep build a strong foundation for future generations of students and educators.

FUNDS BY CATEGORY

  • The Pathways to Leadership Lecture Series Fund: This fund perpetuates our dedication to learning and molding leaders by bringing in guest speakers who contribute to the school’s mission.
  • The Arts Fund: Established in the memory of Wesley P. Smith, this fund allows Southern Prep to operate and maintain an arts program. 
  • The JD Gooden Legacy Fund: Established in memory of JD Gooden, this fund provides for the enhancement and upkeep of our athletic programs and facilities. 
  • The Martha Dixon Library Fund: This fund enhances the Martha Dixon Library in perpetuity. 

  • The 1930 Fund: This fund supports the preservation of our historic main school building, Tallapoosa Hall, constructed in 1930.

  • Preservation of Natural Resources Fund: This fund supports the care and maintenance of Southern Prep’s greenhouse, ponds, and other natural resources, ensuring a thriving and sustainable campus environment.

Established in honor of Dr. Lyman Ward’s wife, this endowment serves as a lasting resource to ensure the long-term stability and resilience of Southern Prep, with funds reserved for critical and unforeseen needs.

  • The Southern Fund for Teaching Excellence: This fund will grow over time and be used to attract, develop, retain, rejuvenate, and reward the most skilled, committed, diverse, and innovative educators and staff around the world. 

  • The Classroom Innovation Fund: Established to provide teachers with the resources needed to purchase top-quality equipment and materials for their classrooms, ensuring an environment of creativity and learning.

  • The Moreman Legacy Fund: Honoring the leadership and legacy of LTC Marcus D. Moreman by supporting the recruitment, development, and recognition of outstanding TAC Officers and support team members who embody his example of setting the standard for others to follow.
  • The 1898 Scholarship Fund: This scholarship supports a partial-tuition award to benefit a high school student who demonstrates financial need and the potential for outstanding academic achievement. 

  • The Students Helping Students Fund: Established in 2025, funds from this are made available for unforeseen expenses by students with demonstrated financial need.
  • The Jenrette Fund for Southern Preparatory Academy: Established in honor of Major Kevin M. Jenrette, this fund supports the academy’s general operations, providing unrestricted resources to address essential needs and sustain its mission.
