Cadet Awards: End of Year 2024

In recognition for outstanding achievement and performance of duty, the Interim President of Southern Preparatory Academy, Mr. Mark Morgan, approves the presentation of the following awards to the following cadets:

Commandant’s Award: Cadet Major Steven Hauer, Battalion Commander, from Owens Cross Roads, AL
The Commandant’s Award is given to the cadet who consistently demonstrates outstanding leadership for the entire school year.

Outstanding Battalion Staff Officer Award: Cadet Captain David Smith, Battalion Adjutant S-1 Officer, from Gardendale, AL
The Outstanding Battalion Staff Officer Award is awarded to the staff officer who demonstrated outstanding leadership, loyalty, strength of character, and a strong work ethic for the entire school year.

Outstanding Company Commander Award: Cadet Jacob Weatherwax, Bravo Company Commander, from Joshua Tree, CA
The Outstanding Company Commander Award is awarded to the cadet who has demonstrated great strength of character and outstanding qualities of leadership in controlling and handling a cadet company.

NCO of the Year Award: Cadet First Sergeant Reilly Mitchell from Clanton, AL
 The NCO of the Year Award is presented to the top non-commissioned officer for demonstrating outstanding leadership qualities, loyalty to the academy, dependability, and good citizenship for the entire school year.

New Cadet of the Year Award: Cadet Nick Izzo from Austin, TX
The New Cadet of the Year Award is presented to a first-year cadet who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, academic achievement, and strength of character for the entire school year.

Foreign Student of the Year Award: Cadet Alfredo Vieto from San Jose, Costa Rica
The foreign student award is presented to the foreign student that has best exemplifies the Academy’s triad of excellence in academics, leadership, and athletics.

JROTC Academic Award:
LET I Cadet Caleb Taylor

LET II Cadet Nathan Johnson
LET III Cadet Steven Hauer
LET IV Cadet Peter Donahoe

The JROTC Academic Award is awarded annually to one cadet in each Leadership, Education, & Training (LET) level with the highest GPA for the school year.

The JROTC Leadership Award is awarded annually to one cadet in each Leadership, Education, & Training (LET) who displays the highest degree of leadership for the school year.
