At Southern Prep, we couldn’t be prouder of our alumni. They have continued to impress us from near and afar! This month, we wanted to shine a spotlight on an outstanding alumnus, Mr. Brandon Crosby. Brandon attended LWMA from 1993 to 1995.
Read more about what Brandon has been up to since he graduated and how his time at the academy helped him achieve his goals.
Name: Brandon L. Crosby
Attended: 93-95
Hometown: Nashville, Tennessee
Favorite memory of the academy: Being Commander of the Sword Drill team
Where are you now? I’m a husband of 8 years to my wife, Casey, and father to 3 beautiful boys. My wife and I own a catering company in Huntsville, Alabama specializing in Chef Experiences using seasonally and locally sourced ingredients.
How did the academy help you achieve your goals? The structured environment taught me discipline as well as helped build my character. Focusing on eliminating distractions and learning the value of integrity helped me develop skills that I continue to use daily.
Brandon Crosby graduated with a degree in culinary arts from Faulkner State in Gulf Shores, Alabama in 2003.
Before Chupper Time, Crosby catered large events, like the Governor’s Ball in NYC and music festivals, including the well-known and loved Bonnaroo. In 2013, he began touring as a chef for stars on the road, including the Zac Brown Band, Guns N Roses, Jason Aldean, and John Mayer… just to name a few.
Brandon and his wife, Casey, have had great success with their business, Chupper Time Catering, since its opening in 2015. According to a 2019 AL.com article, “Chupper Time’s name comes from some baby-talk Crosby’s father, a retired Secret Service agent, used to do with the family dog before dinner.”
In 2017, Brandon competed in Food Network’s Cooks Vs. Cons television challenge and won! In 2019, Chupper Time catering was voted #1 caterer in Alabama. Brandon’s resume is chock-full of interesting experience and extensive culinary training. Not only does he have a long list of professional accolades, he has continued to give back to the community.
In 2020, after devastating tornadoes hit his hometown of Nashville, Brandon traveled back and provided food for over 600 Nashvillians. From award-winning chef to local friend giving back, Brandon serves others the best way he knows how: a good meal.
Brandon, we are so excited about your accomplishments and proud to call you one of our own. Wherever you go in life, we’re always rooting you on from Camp Hill.
