Our residential summer school program comprises a four-week, in-class session, earning students one (1) credit hour. Open to boys entering grades 6th through 12th in Fall 2025.
Whether your son struggled in a class, wishes to get a head start for the upcoming school year, or seeks to refresh a previously learned skill, our Academic Recovery Program provides the opportunity to enhance his academic standing in only 4 weeks.
Students will engage in challenging coursework and benefit from supervised evening study halls. Beyond academics, students can enjoy exciting activities after school and on weekends.
High School Course Options include:
– High School English Courses
– High School Math Courses
– High School Science Courses
Middle School (6th, 7th, and 8th Grades):
– Refresher Course (no credit offered)
Tuition: Tuition includes one (1) credit hour earned; room & board, meals, one (1) off campus weekend trip, technology fee, and uniform rental fee (5 t-shirts, 1 polo, 5 gym shorts).
NO, Southern Prep’s Academic Recovery Program is open to new students. In fact, a majority of our Academic Recovery students are not current students of our academy.
YES, Southern Prep is fully accredited through the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA).
Short answer, YES, credits earned at Southern Prep will transfer out. We suggest checking with your son’s current school first to ensure they will accept credits from another institution.

Southern Preparatory Academy has two dormitories equipped with beds, lockers, desks, and bathrooms.
Monday through Friday, your son will be in the classroom from 8:30am to 3:30pm. In the afternoons and on weekends, your son will be under the care of our TAC Officers (Teach, Advise, Counsel).

Southern Prep’s camp program, Summers At Southern, is a series of week-long themed camps designed specifically with boys in mind. The focus: getting off electronics, getting outside, and most importantly, HAVING FUN!
Summers at Southern is 90% outside, with activities ranging from white-water rafting, catfishing, aviation, firearm safety education, kayaking, paintball, and much more!
