Nichol Morgan

Family Engagement Coordinator

Nichol Morgan is the Family Engagement Coordinator. She has been in education for more than 27 years. Nichol has an Associate of General Studies degree from the American Military University. She served in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard for 8 years as a firefighter. Nichol taught Study Skills, oversaw the EdGenuity Program, and served as a librarian for twenty-three years before transitioning into her current role.

Stacey Rowell

Instructor

Stacey Rowell teaches middle school science courses at Southern Prep Academy. A 2004 graduate of Austin Peay State University, she holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Environmental Geography (with an emphasis on Environmental Hazards) and Geology. With 25 years of combined service in the Army Active Duty and Reserves, Stacey’s dedication to service extends to her personal life. Her son, Jakob, graduated from Southern Prep in 2023 and is now proudly serving in the Army.

Sierra Vickrey

Admissions Counselor / Assistant Summer Camp Director

Sierra Vickrey holds a B.S. in Wildlife Ecology & Management from Auburn University and has supported wildlife monitoring projects in Alabama and Georgia. After graduating, she worked at Auburn University, contributing to statewide mammal population surveys for the Alabama Department of Conservation & Natural Resources (ADCNR). She later assisted Northern Bobwhite quail research at the University of Georgia, helping evaluate population health and long-term sustainability. Sierra’s passion for environmental education began at Southern Preparatory Academy, where she worked as a Summer Camp Counselor. She now serves as Summer Camp Accreditation Lead and Assistant Camp Director for Summers at Southern, in addition to her role within Admissions Department. In this role, she oversees American Camp Association accreditation and helps lead the planning and enhancement of camp programming. Her work focuses on creating safe, inclusive, and engaging outdoor experiences that inspire campers to explore and connect with nature.

Dr. Jaime Tournear

Physics/Chemistry Instructor

Dr. Jaime Tournear obtained a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Cornell University and has 17 years of teaching experience in both high school and college settings. Additionally, she has seven years of scientific research experience, which she incorporates into her teaching philosophy through emphasis of hands-on experiments, inquiry-based activities, and real-world applications of science. Her teaching interests include chemistry, physics, scientific investigation, and creating meaningful experiences that help students connect classroom concepts to the world around them. Outside of teaching, Dr. Tournear enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, skiing, working out, and reading.

Dr. Josh Carmichael

Humanities Instructor & Chaplain

Josh Carmichael brings over 20 years experience as a minister, 12 years as an educator, and eight years as a board certified chaplain to his roles as Humanities instructor and school Chaplain. Dr. Carmichael received his PhD in Church History from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY, his Master of Divinity in Missions from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS, and his MBA in Marketing from the University of Alabama. He trained for professional chaplaincy at The Emory University Medical Center in Atlanta, GA and the Princeton Baptist Hospital in Birmingham. Dr. Carmichael is excited about the opportunity to teach History and English and is thrilled to be the new director for chapel services at Southern Prep. When he can find some spare time, he loves reading, running, and rock ‘n’ roll. Dr. Carmichael is married to Betsy and they have six sons and two energetic Weimaraners.

Ron Glover, CPP, CHS-III, CAS

Director of Residential Life & Chief of Security

Ron Glover has four decades of experience safeguarding his community. After 21 years as a Police Officer in Montgomery, Alabama where he was awarded the Montgomery Police Department Life Saving Medal, he reached the rank of Major and retired from police work to spend more time with his family. He then served as the Security Manager for the JoAnn Fabric and Crafts Distribution Center in Opelika, Alabama. Responsible for developing a variety of emergency response plans for active shooter, bomb threat, and severe weather situations, Mr. Glover is excited to bring his experience in emergency response and community protection to his new role at Southern Preparatory Academy. Combining his logistical and video surveillance expertise with his vast hands-on experience with the Montgomery Police Department, Mr. Glover plans to hit the ground running to ensure the welfare of Southern Prep’s students. He boasts certifications in both anti-terrorism and Homeland Security and served as a Community Emergency Response Team instructor for the Alabama Emergency Management Agency. Mr. Glover currently lives in Auburn with his wife of 22 years. After raising 4 children, he looks forward to connecting and working alongside students to ensure their time at Southern Prep is both safe and enjoyable.
