Clubs and organizations are a vital part of Student Life at Southern Prep.

Clubs

A club for students interested in exploring the Bible and discussing its teachings in a supportive group setting, with a focus on moral and spiritual growth. Bible Study meets weekly. 

Offers students the chance to learn and play chess, developing critical thinking and strategic skills. The club meets once weekly and participates in local tournaments. 

The purpose of Competitive Math is to strengthen and extend students’ mathematical understanding through problem-solving in a competitive setting. The goal is to build skills and confidence throughout the year in preparation for participation in math competitions.

The Cultural Awareness Club provides students with opportunities to explore and celebrate diverse cultures, traditions, and perspectives. Through discussions, activities, and events, members will broaden their global understanding and promote inclusivity within the school community.

The Drone Club explores the expanding applications of drone technology across various industries. Meeting twice a month, students gain hands-on experience while learning about the evolving role of drones in fields such as engineering, agriculture, filmmaking, and beyond.

The Esports Club provides students with an outlet to challenge themselves through competitive gaming. Members will develop skills in reflexes, adaptability, strategy, and situational awareness while striving for excellence in a structured, team-based environment.

The Fishing and Outdoors Club introduces students to the skills and enjoyment of fishing while fostering an appreciation for the outdoors. In addition to regular meetings, the club will host weekend activities to provide meaningful opportunities for boarding students.

The Military History Club explores key conflicts and battles throughout history, examining their significance and outcomes. Students will analyze leadership styles and strategies to understand their impact on events. The club also studies Medal of Honor recipients for those interested in heroic acts and personal stories of service.

Students will meet bi-weekly to study court procedures and practice oral arguments, while also preparing to compete against Mock Trial teams from other schools.

The Ranger Run meets thrice weekly and encourages students to get outside and stay active, whether they walk or run the 3.1 mile trail located on campus. 

The Regenerative Agriculture Club explores sustainable farming practices that promote healthy soil, support communities, and foster strong relationships. Members meet weekly to learn, collaborate, and engage in hands-on agricultural projects.

The Robotics Club fosters 21st-century skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. Students build confidence while deepening their understanding of STEM principles through hands-on, engaging, and enjoyable projects.

The Rowdy Rangers fosters school pride by organizing engaging events, supporting athletic teams, and encouraging students to actively celebrate and showcase their school spirit.

A club for students interested in card and board games that require strategy. Members sharpen analytical and strategic thinking. The club meets on the first and third Mondays of every month.

Organizations

Student representatives who assist with school events, guide visitors, and help promote a positive school image. Ambassadors represent the school during events like open houses and new student orientation.

A national honor society focused on academic achievement, character, and leadership. Members engage in community service and leadership development activities.

Color guard is considered a sport of the arts, combining dance, visual arts, and equipment manipulation. The Academy’s Color Guard posts and presents the colors at campus events, local parades, luncheons, and other community gatherings.

The Drill Team performs military-based routines, usually armed, at competitions throughout the school year. Through the Drill Team, cadets discipline, precision, and leadership. 

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes seeks to unite faith and athletics by encouraging coaches and athletes to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and to live out their faith both on and off the field.

Model United Nations engages students in simulations of the United Nations, fostering skills in diplomacy, negotiation, public speaking, and critical thinking. Members research global issues, represent countries, and collaborate to develop solutions to international challenges.

A physically demanding team that competes in obstacle courses, teamwork challenges, and endurance events. Associated with Southern Prep’s JROTC program, the Raiders develop physical and mental toughness.

A competitive team focusing on marksmanship and safety in the sport of target shooting, usually with air rifles. Members learn discipline, focus, and safety techniques.

The school’s student leadership body, where elected representatives advocate for student interests, plan events, and work on initiatives to improve school life.

The Sword Drill Team, established in 1988, is a prestigious club at Southern Preparatory Academy that performs a precise, silent drill sequence, executed primarily by silent count with minimal voice commands. Members dedicate over 100 hours of practice to perfect their performance for the Academy’s Military Day Ball.
