FAITH

AS A FAITH-BASED SCHOOL, WE CARE ABOUT OUR STUDENTS LIVING WITH A PURPOSE.

By design, everything we do here – academics, athletics, arts – is grounded in the desire to see our students mature in faith and character. Whether it’s through chapel services or service opportunities, our aim is to educate the heart as fully as the mind.

FAITH AT SOUTHERN PREP

Southern Preparatory Academy was founded on values shared across many faith traditions, including honesty, respect, service, and compassion. While we are not affiliated with any particular denomination or church body, Southern Prep is anchored in nondenominational Christian faith. Our Christian identity informs our character formation, campus culture, and approach to educating the whole student—mind, body, and spirit.

FAITH & ACADEMICS

Faith is a foundational pillar of Southern Prep. It shapes our values, relationships, and moral framework. At the same time, faith is not the driver of our academic program, but a complement to it. Academic excellence stands on its own merit and is delivered through sound pedagogy, intellectual rigor, and evidence-based instruction. Faith serves to support and enrich the educational experience, not replace or override academic integrity.

We are committed to hiring highly qualified academic faculty based on professional credentials, expertise, and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Faculty are not required to adhere to a specific denomination or religious preference; however, all employees must understand, respect, and support the foundational role faith plays in our school culture and community.

SPIRITUAL LIFE & CHAPEL

Because of our heritage and commitment to holistic formation, we host schoolwide, weekly chapel services grounded in the Apostles’ Creed. All chapel services are open to families and the broader community.

We are willing to accommodate the needs and convictions of all students. Accommodations may be granted upon parent or guardian request, including the ability to opt out of weekly chapel and, for boarding students, transportation to religious observances and/or denomination specific Sunday services (e.g., Mass and others)

Students who have been opted out of chapel will attend a supervised time of reflection held concurrently with chapel. This is an opportunity for quiet reflection in a respectful and silent environment.

We welcome and respect students and families from all backgrounds. We believe our students should learn to engage others with dignity and understanding, and we expect students to show respect for all faith traditions both on campus and in the broader world. To foster this, we will occasionally host leaders from other faith backgrounds to speak in cultural education settings outside of chapel services in order to promote cross-cultural awareness and understanding.
