Southern Preparatory Academy Names Roland Bell as New Maintenance Director
Camp Hill, AL – Southern Preparatory Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Roland Bell as its new Maintenance Director. Bell will continue to serve as Head Football Coach and Head Golf Coach while bringing nearly two decades of construction and facilities expertise to his expanded role.
Bell’s resume is both broad and deep: he spent 12 years as a licensed Alabama homebuilder and owner of Trinity Home Construction, oversaw major projects for 17 years as a site foreman, and guided day-to-day operations for 8 years as a maintenance manager. Along the way, he honed specialty skills in roofing and general contracting, experience that will be invaluable as the academy continues to modernize its 320-acre campus.
“Coach Bell’s blend of technical skill and passion for our mission makes him the perfect fit,” said Vice President Jenifer Isbell. “He already understands every corner of our grounds, and now he’ll be able to channel that knowledge into long-term campus stewardship and hands-on student learning.”
A central part of Bell’s vision is to align the maintenance operation with Southern Prep’s new Industrial Arts and Career Technical Education program. Launching this fall, the program begins with courses in Turf Management, Landscape Design Management, and Building Construction Management, giving students daily, real-world experience on projects they can see and touch. The curriculum will expand in the coming years as interest and demand grow.
Upperclassmen who meet eligibility requirements will also have the chance to work alongside Bell through the school’s On-Campus Employment Program (OCEP), earning wages under his supervision while gaining resume-ready skills.
“My goal has always been to make Southern Prep better and to expand the opportunities we offer,” Bell said. “Bringing the maintenance department together with the industrial arts program is a natural next step. It lets us improve the campus while teaching practical skills our students can carry into life after graduation.”
