Cadet Awards: Military Day 2025

April 26th, 2025

In recognition for outstanding achievement and performance of duty, the President of Southern Preparatory Academy, Colonel Corey Ramsby, approves the presentation of the following awards to the following cadets:

Sons of the American Revolution: Cadet Jacob Zamora from San Diego, CA.
This award is given in recognition of outstanding leadership qualities and military bearing and excellence.

Military Officer’s Association of America (MOAA): Cadet Miller Backus from Vestavia Hills, AL
The MOAA Medal is awarded to the cadet who demonstrated outstanding achievement in military subjects and has displayed capability and diligence in JROTC activities.

Chad Wilson Memorial Award for Leadership and Character: Cadet Jay Goggans from Pell City, AL
This award is presented to a junior or senior who demonstrates strong leadership within the Corps and among peers. This cadet has had a positive impact on others through their actions and attitude. He has consistently gone above and beyond in academics, athletics, and community involvement. 

The 2025 Ranger Athletic Awards are a celebration of this year’s athletic accomplishments. Our athletic program here at Southern Prep Academy has grown tremendously over the past few years. It wasn’t that long ago that we only had 6 sports teams representing 5 different sports. This year, we have grown to 11 sports teams representing 8 different sports.
